Blagojevich

If his name was Palin, and was from Alaska, we would never hear the end of it. About his kids, his wife, his habits, every minuscule detail of his personal life, would be laid bare for the world to see. Is it Sarahs child? Is it her daughters? Is her boyfriend a dirtbag? Is her Husband? But Blagojevich gets a pass on not only his personal behavior, but on everything else in between. But, Liberals won the election so, we get second hand news from Chicago, about corruption this side of William Jefferson. Oh, you remember, Dear Reader, about the investigation that turned up 90,000 dollars in bribe money in said Rep.s Freezer in Louisiana? Where were the Media? They were crammed so far up Bush's, McCain's, and Palin's Ass that I couldn't tell where they ended and the Media began. Never mind the corruption going on in the Medias favorite Party, look at those Horrible Republicans everyone... Did Dan Rather kill objective media, or did they not learn their lesson?

No Shit? The Mujaheddin have a problem with the Israelis. Now because... they happen to have this curious habit of existing, and prospering, while the Muslims civilization declines. The Palestinians civilization is declining, because of the acceptance of HAMAS as the leaders of Gaza. Should we feel bad for a large amount of people who make really bad decisions, vote for the wrong people ,and drive their political leaders out? They knew what HAMAS would do, if they got elected, they knew, that a vote for HAMAS was a vote for War, but, they voted for HAMAS anyway. When bombs drop on these people should I feel bad? War is what they choose... War is what they get... They have the power to stop HAMAS, they have the power to stop the Mujaheddin from firing rockets into southern Israel... Am I the only one who remembers the Palestinians cheering in the streets after 9/11. They can choose the future for themselves, but, they choose not to have a peaceful future. Whose fault is it? The Jews try to protect themselves from terrorists. Can you blame them?...

clarifications

ROME-CIRCA 2008?
Clarification... This Post was meant more as a comparison of Civilizations, as opposed to Individuals, et. al. Nixon/Caesar. The Republic which we live in, can be changed, but, not without repercussions. Once things are changed, you can't take it back. Roman History changed after Caeser, there was no remaking the Republic, it had become a Dictatorship, for the good, or ill, it had become something different. Like America, starting with F.D.R., once you change the shape and feel of society, we are on new ground. Now the rules are changed. Nixon, though, did nothing different than J.F.K., L.B.J., but he got called on it and fell on his sword. He happened to have an (R) in front of his name is all. The Republic changed, however, nonetheless. I just tried to provide a Historical example of how the Road to Hell is paved by good intentions. People can't all of a sudden just "UNKNOW" something they have experienced. It doesn't work like that...
Questions and comments are encouraged..

Merry Christmas

...And Joy to you and yours, dear reader. The Blagogate scandal is a curious topic, well for Illinois, at least, the rest of the media seem to be plugging their ears and singing "Fa, la, la, fa, la, la, la,"...though at least the does seem to be festive. I kinda like how the whole "the truth will set me free" defense, though, that "Captain Rod" tried. Cooommmeeee OOOnnnnn! They have you on tape, on your personal line, making these comments, and only "Captain Rod" knows the truth? Um? Really? I guess the incoming White house Chief of Staff, Mr. Emmanuel, was a party to some of these phone calls, but knows nothing, was just a one time happenstance. I guess you can say that the Illinois Gov. Is getting "Rahm Rod"ded , or perhaps he is getting justice "Rahmed" down his throat.. nevertheless, I hope Justice will have It's Day, not the Law, mind you, Justice and the Law are two different things. The Law, is what is done on behalf of People, by people, for people. Justice, however, is how God and nature do things, which is altogether different. I'll explain if anyone is curious.
Merry Christmas.
(As referring to the winter solstice holiday season, during which we give presents, celebrate, and enjoy each others company, though it may have started with the birth of Christ and therefore refer to Him, I don't want to offend anyone by referring repeatedly to Christ, but since it was His Birthday, I am left with no choice.)
Happy Holidays.

Cory...

My Boy, Cory, is coming home for Christmas from the Marines tomorrow! But then in January, he is shipping off to Bahrain, to fight, from there, the Mujaheddin in Afghanistan. The Mujaheddin celebrate their Hajj(Journey by able bodied Muslims)to Mecca, we celebrate the birth of our Lord, in Bethlehem. But, still the war of Civilizations wears on... Darkness descends as we tear each other limb from limb, as the West crumbles and the Middle East gains strength, though we fight for the same God. Call Him God, Allah, Jehovah, it doesn't matter. He is the God of Abraham. We should celebrate our sameness this season, as opposed to our differences... That's just my opinion I could be wrong, or could invite withering abuse from either side...

“It’s a huge mistake,” said California gay rights activist Rick Jacobs, who chairs the state’s Courage Campaign. “He’s really the wrong person to lead the president into office. “Can you imagine if he had a man of God doing the invocation who had deliberately said that Jews are not going to be saved and therefore should be excluded from what’s going on in America? People would be up in arms,” he said. Rreeaaaly? Last time I checked; Jews, Muslims, Christians, Catholics, Hindus, Evangelicals, were kind of led that way by their parents, their civilization, the people they grew up with, philosophy... They didn't look at the world around them and decide the rest of the world was crazy. Decide to sleep with the same sex, think it was great, then force the rest of us, by Judicial Fiat, to accept marriage as being whatever they happen to define it as. Being Gay, isn't a Religion, it's a choice of lifestyle. Even if your born that way you have no incumbent Right to force people to recognize your Right to be Gay. I don't run around forcing people to recognize the Right of me being Catholic, I just am. Be what it is you are then let the rest of us be what we are. If the a Church says that your married, O.K., if not then it's Commonlaw, that's O.K. too. Big Deal. If you keep forcing it down peoples throats, then it will never happen... I know if Gay people read this I'm gonna get pounded (mentally) but, come on, I don't run around telling everyone how much I like being Heterosexual.

Bush? A Shoe in...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uIj0YvDBKE
As funny as this video is, I think we need to examine the overall meaning in the incident. Think that this kind of behavior would be tolerated under Saddam Hussein? Really? The only place this could happen(without your arms being "Mechanically" removed)in the Asiatic Continent is Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, etc. Places where America has had influence. Though, I wouldn't be caught doing this sort of thing in Jersey, Philly, Chicago, NYC, Biloxi, etc. Or I might suffer a similar fate, though in the private confines of an abandoned warehouse, as opposed to a Presidential Palace. The perceptually virulent form of American Democracy, spreads like wild fire, as Bush, predicted it would. I too, thought he was wrong, but have been surprised, by the affairs that have transpired under his watch. Now that Iraq has it's Freedom they won't cede it to anyone, including our government. This guy, (Bush) has taken a beating for doing what he thought was right, irregardless of how the media, the pundits, and everyone from both sides of the aisle beat up on him. Because he did what he thought was right, he deserves our respect for that alone, if for no other reason. He fell on his sword to do the right thing...
God Bless him, God Bless America, God Bless the New President, Obama, I pray he's the Hero everyone thinks he is...

ROME-CIRCA 2008?

Lets look at Julius Ceasars life and times, and pehaps compare and contrast to our own.
60 BCE First Triumvirate of Pompey, Crassus, and Julius Caesar
A Marriage of conveneance, the three joined each other more for political expediancy, than
any values, customs or, ideallogy they shared. Crassus, having a victory snatched away, by
Pompey, over Asia Minor, feared the popular general, Pompey, by imperium, would claim Dictatorship. Due to Crassus's unpopularity, amongst the Senate and Assembly, he choose the help of Julius Caesar (being popular with the populous), to lobby Pompey of his need for the
Triumvirate (three men) to solidify their control over not only the masses, but the Senate, and assembly as well. The Republic, as it was known up to that period, was dealt a death blow. It would never be quite the same as it was. It started to frey at the seam, like a quilt stretched beyond it's capacity for far too long.
I'm representing a lot of simple history here, very basic, but let us start going into detail, and looking for comparisions, and contrasts.

Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994)

Reconciliation was the first goal set by President Richard M. Nixon. The Nation was painfully divided, with turbulence in the cities and war overseas. During his Presidency, Nixon succeeded in ending American fighting in Viet Nam and improving relations with the U.S.S.R. and China. But the Watergate scandal brought fresh divisions to the country and ultimately led to his resignation.
His accomplishments while in office included revenue sharing, the end of the draft, new anticrime laws, and a broad environmental program. As he had promised, he appointed Justices of conservative philosophy to the Supreme Court. One of the most dramatic events of his first term occurred in 1969, when American astronauts made the first moon landing.
Some of his most acclaimed achievements came in his quest for world stability. During visits in 1972 to Beijing and Moscow, he reduced tensions with China and the U.S.S.R. His summit meetings with Russian leader Leonid I. Brezhnev produced a treaty to limit strategic nuclear weapons. In January 1973, he announced an accord with North Viet Nam to end American involvement in Indochina. In 1974, his Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, negotiated disengagement agreements between Israel and its opponents, Egypt and Syria.

Julius Caeser (102/100 BC-44BC)

The victorious and now unchallenged Caesar arrived back in Rome and celebrated four splendid triumphs (over the Gauls, Egyptians, Pharnaces, and Juba); he sent for Cleopatra and the year-old Caesarion and established them in a luxurious villa across the Tiber from Rome. In a letter at this time he listed his political aims as “tranquility for Italy, peace for the provinces, and security for the Empire.” His program for accomplishing these goals—both what he actually achieved and what he planned but did not have time to complete—was sound and farsighted (e.g., resolution of the worst of the debt crisis, resettlement of veterans abroad without dispossessing others, reform of the Roman calendar, regulation of the grain dole, strengthening of the middle class, enlargement of the Senate to 900), but his methods alienated many of the nobles. Holding the position of dictator, Caesar governed autocratically, more in the manner of a general than a politician. Although he nominally used the political structure, he often simply announced his decisions to the Senate and had them entered on the record as senatorial decrees without debate or vote.
Caesar was named dictator perpetuus. On February 15, at the feast of Lupercalia, Caesar wore his purple garb for the first time in public. At the public festival, Antony offered him a diadem (symbol of the Hellenistic monarchs), but Caesar refused it, saying Jupiter alone is king of the Romans (possibly because he saw the people did not want him to accept the diadem, or possibly because he wanted to end once and for all the speculation that he was trying to become a king). Caesar was preparing to lead a military campaign against the Parthians, who had treacherously killed Crassus and taken the legionary eagles; he was due to leave on March 18. Although Caesar was apparently warned of some personal danger, he nevertheless refused a bodyguard.

March 15, 44 BCE: Caesar attended the last meeting of the Senate before his departure, held at its temporary quarters in the portico of the theater built by Pompey the Great (the Curia, located in the Forum and the regular meeting house of the Senate, had been badly burned and was being rebuilt). The sixty conspirators, led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Brutus Albinus, and Gaius Trebonius, came to the meeting with daggers concealed in their togas and struck Caesar at least 23 times as he stood at the base of Pompey's statue. Legend has it that Caesar said in Greek to Brutus, “You, too, my child?” After his death, all the senators fled, and three slaves carried his body home to Calpurnia several hours later. For several days there was a political vacuum, for the conspirators apparently had no long-range plan and, in a major blunder, did not immediately kill Mark Antony (apparently by the decision of Brutus). The conspirators had only a band of gladiators to back them up, while Antony had a whole legion, the keys to Caesar's money boxes, and Caesar's will.

Both Historical figures accomplished things of some note. Admireable goals, political stability, wrapping up wars overseas, etc. Both Caesar, and Nixon, fell on their swords however(one literally, one figertively, respectively) Though Nixon of course, was no general, you kind of have to look for what they looked to accomplish. Intentionally or not. Both would sow seeds in their respective Republics, that would have long reaching yet unforseen effects. As has both George W. Bush, and as Barak H. Obama likely will. The "law of unintended consequences", is always at play, as is "the road to Hell is paved with the best intentions".

Obama Senate Seat For Sale?
Feds: Blagojevich saw Obama's vacated job as a "valuable thing"

DECEMBER 9--The criminal complaint filed today against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich contains a remarkable section detailing the Democratic politician's alleged attempt to cash in on his ability to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. Attached to the U.S. District Court complaint is an FBI affidavit, excerpted below, alleging that Blagojevich was caught on wiretaps noting that the Senate seat "is a fucking valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing." He was also recorded saying that unless "I get something real good," he would appoint himself to the vacancy. "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself." According to surreptitiously recorded conversations, Blagojevich spoke with associates about the possibility of trading the Senate post for either an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post. The politician, according to the affidavit sworn by FBI Agent Daniel Cain, "analogized his situation to that of a sports agent shopping a potential free agent to various teams." During a wiretapped November 10 call, a frustrated and financially strapped Blagojevich referred to Obama as a "motherfucker" and said that he would not appoint an ally of the President-elect to the Senate vacancy if "I don't get anything." Referring to Obama, Blagojevich exclaimed, "Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him." In a November 11 conversation, Blagojevich remarked that he knew Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett, a longtime confidante, to succeed him, "but they're not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them." Blagojevich, 51, and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested this morning on political corruption charges. While the affidavit does not specifically name the six prospective Senate candidates discussed by Blagojevic, Harris, and the governor's aides, it appears that several are easily identified. "Senate Candidate 1" is Jarrett. "Senate Candidate 2" is Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. Emil Jones, an Illinois state legislator, is "Senate Candidate 5." And "Senate Candidate 6" appears to be J.P. Pritzker, a wealthy Chicago businessman. Additionally, Rahm Emanuel, the incoming White House chief of staff, is referred to in the affidavit as "President-elect Advisor." (21 pages)

Why is it that Japan sneak attacks people BEFORE they declare war?...
No offense intended. Come on I'm Irish. It's not like we telegraph our punches, and I don't mean to be overly critical, but, didn't they sink all of the U.S.S.R.s ships,BEfore they declared War...
I leave you to someone, who, is not only prettier than I am, is much more up on events...

Why is it...?

http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNews/idUSTRE4B51H120081206?feedType=RSS&feedName=environmentNews
Why is it that on the coldest days of the year the fringe lunatics start running
around screaming about Global Warming. Holding marches, people dressed like Polar Bears, carrying idiotic signs, like they don't have a Job in the world. Who in Heavens name are bankrolling these head cases, because I swear I see the same faces at Peace marches, Anti-war rallies, Anti-Bush, Green Peace, Anti-this, Anti-that. If I hear one more nut job, running around shouting about Gay Marriage, I'm going to come unglued. But, dear reader I digress. Why exactly do we want to save Mr. Polar Bear? "Hey everybody! Forget going about your daily business. We have to save the 1,500 lb death machine from having to swim a little more..." I wonder what the seals and penguins think of mankind saving Mr. Polar Bear. Probably "Hey Bob, don't go to the edge of the ice floeoooooohhh Shit. Did you see what happened to Bob..." As kindly Mr. Polar Bear take Bob the penguin in his massive maw and sinks beneath the icy waves. That crunching sound was Bob. Crunchy. Tasty. Who then will take of Bobs young son. Whose feet will said son stand between for warmth. There is a lonely, shivering young penguin in Alaska waiting for Bob...
Here's where we arrive at Real Life...
1. Animals are highly adaptable to the environment
2. The environment is highly adaptable to animals
3. People are animals (refer to number two)
If people ceased to exist today, the world would reclaim everything we have done and built in a century. Why do you think we cut grass, fix roads, hunt animals, any of the numerous tasks we do, day to day, that keep the environment from claiming us? If we didn't do these tedious daily tasks, vines and ivy would climb our buildings and tear them asunder, roots would buckle our roads, animals would wander in the empty husks of our buildings... Life, as it were, would move forward, and some Other dominate species would take our place. To me, it is arrogance to assume that we have done anything that the world itself won't reverse over a fairly short time. The ecosystem was here long before we were here, it'll be here long after we're gone. Relax, calm down, enjoy the time God has granted you in this wonderful place. Oh, by and by, you Hippie protesters, go get a job, have lots of kids, and enjoy your life and let the rest of us be...

Can somebody help?...

http://wcbstv.com/watercooler/slavery.haverstraw.middle.2.880370.html
What this teacher did was stupid on an incredible level, but c'mon?
Really? Maybe I don't get it, my family didn't come to America
until 1911. We,(speaking for the Irish in general, and me personally) never owned anyone, a matter of fact, the British took my homeland from my family.
My lineage traces me back to the
"The O'Sullivan Beare", the last king of Ireland. Once we got here,
we spent two generations in the coal mines, in
Company owned housing, in the Ozark Mountains. My Ma was one of thirteen foster children, who had Lice, starved, and walked to the schoolhouse. Poor and hungry.
Me, being the third generation, got harassed, because of wearing Salvation
Army(A.K.A. Dead mans) clothes. Poor and hungry. I ate 1 time a day and
thought that I had a pretty good life. I stole the meals that I didn't get at school for free, and watched as everyone grew up past me... As I stopped growing at sixteen. When I moved out, fought through homelessness, drug addiction, and everything else, is it my fault what the WASPs did? To Black people? To Indians? To the Third World?
Really? Does America keep black people down...
Really? Why didn't anyone come and help my family?
Being 12 to 15 percent of the population doesn't mean everyone should toss in
for you, when the poor blue eyed kid gets caught stealing bread, should we help him
too...
Or, should we,as a people, assume, since he's White, that no one should help him,
since, he was so lucky, that he was born white, and has such an advantage that the
world will just take care of him...
Really?

Pakistan denies India 20 terrorism suspects? They will pull out of the war on the Mujaheddin amongst them inside their own borders to the north, and start a second, more dangerous front, to the east? It sounds like suicide. South Asia is on fire, and the Hindus might just be the ones that will tamp it out. So everything wasn't going bad enough for the Mujaheddin, (losing Iraq, unable to attack the U.S.A. for 8 years, being kept holed up in caves, etc.) now their gonna get under the Hindus skin... I understand the method of 9/11 that, why go to the playground if there's no one to play with, (that is you can't fight a war that no one will fight) but if your already losing, you shouldn't up the ante...
We live in interesting times..

The Goverment coming to save us?

The Pentagon wants a 20,000 Federally controlled Army troops on our homeland? For our Defense? Really? What is a matter with the our collective Governors Armies (A.K.A. National Guard) that should be here for the emergencies that we may confront? Off fighting in wars overseas. And who then, will be in charge of said Federal troops? Bush? Obama? Dept. of Defense? Pentagon? And then may I ask of this precedence, who will control these Federal troops in, say ten years? Why are the National Guard being rotated in and out of conflicts overseas, and Federal troops kept here? Unconstitutional? We've seen what the Feds do in situations that are beyond the locals control...
Ruby Ridge...
Waco, Texas...
Just curious if anyone sees the historical parallels of when Caesar crossed the Tiber and the Republic descended from an Obligarchy of the rich, (think Wall Street Bail Out) to a Dictatorship, (Think Ceasars personal army dominating the republic) see a pattern? Remember, this was found on "A Republic, if you can keep it." Ben Franklin.
